Teaching seminar with Professor Amanda Clarke

We are excited that the next host in our series of online teaching seminars will be Professor Amanda Clarke from Carleton University. In the teaching seminars, educators from around the world share their experiences of using our open-access syllabus to help them teach the skills public servants need in the digital age.

On 26 September, 3-4pm CET, Professor Clarke will tell us how she teaches public policy students about the role of user research and design practices in improving the effectiveness of public policies and government services.

She will show case studies, classroom exercises and academic and grey literature that can be used in a class on user focused design. She will also tell us what has worked well teaching user research and design in both core public policy and administration courses and specialized courses on digital government.

In this webinar, Amanda Clarke will talk about how she teaches TPSDA Syllabus Unit 4 - “User-focus & design” to students on the MA in Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University.

Amanda Clarke is Associate Professor at Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration. Her research examines digital era public administration, public data governance and government-citizen relations. She is author of Opening the Government of Canada: The Federal Bureaucracy in the Digital Age. She is the recipient of the Government of Ontario Early Researcher Award, and in 2021 was included in Apolitical‘s list of the Top 100 Most Influential Academics in Government.
